Industrial operations are concentrated in or near communities of color and low-income communities, and federal and state regulations fail to account for the cumulative impacts of social and environmental stressors. To protect public health and safety, federal and state environmental agencies must account for all major pollution sources, consider cumulative impacts in decision-making, including affected communities in regulatory processes, and give people information and resources to protect their health.
The Center is uniquely positioned to research and advocate for reforms such as these that will redress environmental injustices.
