RDV Construction

Description

In the largest wage theft case ever brought by the state of California against a private company, the state labor commissioner cited RDV Construction for cheating more then 1,000 workers out of minimum wage, overtime pay, and legally-mandated rest breaks on 35 construction sites across the Los Angeles region. Investigators found that the employer habitually and illegally withheld 10 to 25 percent of earned wages from workers. RDV Construction was ordered to pay nearly $12 million in back wages and penalties for violations that occurred between 2014 and 2017. The citations include failing to timely pay 1,089 employees, minimum wage violations for 844 employees, failing to provide proper rest breaks to 1,125 employees, failing to properly pay overtime rates to 1,1111 workers, and issuing improper wage statements to 1,109 employees.
