The Center for Progressive Reform, Coalition for Sensible Safeguards, and Public Citizen co-hosted a webinar on May 13 exploring the Congressional Review Act (CRA) and how it impacts the public protections agencies develop.
Over the last three decades, the CRA has been increasingly used to undermine and prevent the implementation of important regulations. As we approach the end of a presidential term, these dangers are taking on even greater significance because of the law’s complex “lookback” period.
The webinar provided an overview of the CRA, with a particular focus on how the lookback period works. Panelists also discussed new and emerging controversies surrounding the CRA, current research on how it is being abused, and reform options to blunt the law’s threats.
