Center for Progressive Reform Welcomes Minor Sinclair as Next Executive Director
The Board of Directors of the Center for Progressive Reform (CPR) announced today that the organization has selected Minor Sinclair as its next executive director. Sinclair will start on Feb. 8.
"We're incredibly pleased that Minor is joining CPR as executive director," said Robert Verchick, president of the Board of Directors of the Center for Progressive Reform. "He brings a strong passion for justice and equity, years of experience with organizational management and fundraising, a keen eye for media relations, and an ambitious vision for CPR."
Sinclair joins the Center for Progressive Reform after 16 years with Oxfam, where he served as Domestic Program Director. Under his leadership, Oxfam mounted responses to major emergencies in Puerto Rico and the Gulf Coast with a focus on climate resiliency and social vulnerability. He co-founded the Equitable Food Initiative, a consortium of major food buyers, growers, farm worker groups, and consumer advocates seeking to improve working conditions and food safety. While at Oxfam, Sinclair also led a team that supported more than 100 community-based and national organizations dedicated to economic, racial, and gender justice. He also helped launch the transnational migration initiative, which brought organizations together across Central America, Mexico, and the United States.
His past experience includes other roles at Oxfam, the Ecumenical Program on Central America and the Caribbean, the Central American Refugee Center, and the Mennonite Central Committee.
Sinclair said, "I'm honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the Center for Progressive Reform as it embarks on the critical work of crafting smart, effective policies that deliver justice, promote equity, and work for all people and our environment."
Sinclair added, "'Ours is the struggle of a lifetime,' John Lewis said. And there is no time more urgent than today with opportunities for consequential change calling to us. Grounded in the experience of communities while bringing ideas and expertise to the policy debate, the influence of CPR will be far-reaching in the months and years to come."
A five-member committee chaired by Board member Michele Janin led the nationwide search process. While the search was underway, Board members Laurie Ristino and Gilonne d'Origny and longtime staff member James Goodwin served as Interim Executive Directors. The Board thanks them for their invaluable service.
