Dr. Lemir Teron is an associate professor in Howard University’s Department of Earth, Environment, & Equity.
Professor Teron is an expert in energy and environmental policy. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Delaware in Energy and Environmental Policy, an M.S. from Georgia State University in Urban Policy Studies, and a B.S. from the University of Georgia in Social Science Education. Prior to joining the Howard faculty, he was an assistant professor at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in the Department of Environmental Studies.
Professor Teron’s work operates at the nexus of public science and environmental justice. His research focuses on energy policy and justice, community forestry, and environmental health. He was recently named a Nathan Policy Fellow at the Rockefeller Institute of Government at SUNY and serves on the Energy Working Group of the NY State Climate Impacts Assessment. Dr. Teron was awarded a 2020 Unsung Hero Award at Syracuse University’s 35th Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and was named a 2022 Champion of Diversity by the YWCA of Syracuse and Onondaga County in New York.
His work has appeared in a number of law and scientific journals, including: the Richmond Public Interest Law Review, Environmental Justice, Local Environment, Applied Energy, and the International Journal of Human Rights in Healthcare.
