Jessica Taylor is a Policy Intern focusing on the Responsive Government policy issues while at the Center. Her Ph.D. research on climate change adaptation of infrastructure in rural Alaska examined the intersection of the built environment, environmental regulation, and environmental justice in Alaska Native communities. Jessica continues to pursue understanding the link between environmental justice and policy to create opportunities for lasting, systematic change.
Jessica is a first-generation college student who grew up in rural Northern California. She received her BS in Environmental Engineering (minor in Science, Technology, Gender, Race, and Culture) in 2018 from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and her M.Eng and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering in 2022 from Iowa State University. During this time Jessica also worked in environmental regulation for the State of California and in Science Policy with the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth.
